Oxbow Lake Cottagers' Association

The Oxbow Lake Cottagers’ Association was formed in 1975 by a small group of Oxbow Lake Cottage Owners. Membership has grown over the years, with over 70% of residents as current members. The Oxbow Lake Cottagers’ Association is dedicated to the preservation and protection of life on the Lake, as we have all come to appreciate it. The Association monitors activity on the lake, water quality, issues in the local community, among other things.

The Oxbow Lake Cottagers’ Association is a member association of the Federation of Ontario Cottage Associations and a link is provided under the links section on this homepage. We are also members of the local Huntsville – Lake of Bays Lakes Council and they offer good information for local cottagers including bringing lake associations together.

2010 Summer Dates –

Saturday, July 3rd, – Oxbow Lake Cottagers’ Association ANNUAL MEETING
9:30am for coffee, 10am sharp Annual Meeting at the Interlaken Fire Hall.
Fireworks following in the evening, with thanks to the Singletons!

Friday, July 30th, 12 noon – Annual GOLF TOURNAMENT at Grandview Executive Course. Call Bruce Cameron 635-3278 to sign up. Prizes welcome!

Saturday, July 31st, 4pm – OXBOW LAKE SOCIAL (adults only) at 1118 East Oxbow Lake Road, the Vigmonds. To help with the food, call Tonia 635-9348. For tickets, call Lynda 635-3216.

Sunday, August 1st, 1:30pm – OXBOW REGATTA – on the OLCC shores – Fun for the whole family!!
If you can help, give the Heydon’s a call 635-9541.

Wildlife are definitely around and you are encouraged to be safe whether walking or driving. Limberlost Road has deer, foxes, bears and turtles (!) crossing it frequently. Drive safe and give yourself time enough to slow or stop for these critters!

The 2009 Oxbow Lake Social was held Saturday, August 1st, 2009 and attended by 38 cottagers. Our new neighbors, Mary Lee and Guy Manuel along with their son Lucas were the hosts opening their cottage to all for the evening.

1. Water quality monitoring

·Spring phosphorous levels in Oxbow Lake have been monitored by volunteers since 1981 and remain steady within the acceptable range for our type of lake.

Oxbow Lake Regatta, 2008

The 2008 Regatta took place on Sunday, August 3rd, 2008. It was once again well attended (approximately 100) and full of fun under the very capable coordination of Peter and Angie Heydon. The shores of the Oxbow Lakeside Community Club provided a great location with lots of space for all the activities. Special thanks go to them, our coordinators and hosts.
